Georgia Jeffries is a writer of Emmy winning drama honored with multiple Writers Guild Awards. Her debut novel, THE YOUNGER GIRL, a Midwest noir based on a true crime of family murder and deception that crosses three generations, has been praised by Rachel Howzell Hall as “eye-opening, immersive historical fiction at its best”. Her short stories in the MWA anthology, ODD PARTNERS, and SinC/LA’s anthology, THE LAST RESORT, were described by The Los Angeles Review of Books as “firecracker tales”. Born in the Illinois heartland, Georgia worked as a journalist for American Film before writing and producing ground-breaking female-driven dramas, Cagney & Lacey, China Beach, and Sisters. Her screenwriting career involved extensive field research, from patrolling the mean streets of Rampart with the LAPD, to crashing a Vegas bounty hunters’ convention, to reporting from a Walter Reed Army Hospital surgical bay, each investigation the basis for one of her many docudramas and series pilots for CBS, ABC, NBC, HBO and Showtime. She is a professor at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts where she created the first undergraduate screenwriting thesis program at an American University.
