Barbara DeMarco-Barrett
Barbara DeMarco-Barrett is the author of the Los Angeles Times bestseller, Pen on Fire: A Busy Woman’s Guide to Igniting the Writer Within (Harcourt, 2004; reissued by Mars Street Press, 2018). Her fiction and nonfiction appear in Orange County Noir (Akashic), Literary Hatchet, Rock and a Hard Place magazine, USA Noir: Best of the Akashic Noir Series, Serial Magazine, Shotgun Honey (Down & Out Books), Crossing Borders (Down & Out Books), Inlandia, Authors Guild Bulletin, Belle Ombre, the Los Angeles Times, Poets & Writers, The Writer, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. Since 1998, she’s hosted Writers on Writing, a radio show on KUCI-FM and podcast on iTunes. She taught at UC-Irvine, where she was named Distinguished Instructor, and currently teaches at Gotham Writers Workshop (NYC), Saddleback College’s Emeritus Institute (Orange County, CA), and privately. She’s editor of Palm Springs Noir (Akashic, July 6, 2021).

Cheryl Flohr is an aspiring writer of fiction. Newly retired, she was the director of communication for Parker Aerospace, where she and her team managed communications for the $2 billion branch of Parker Hannifin Corporation. She’s written and edited her way through decades of corporate communications. Now she’d like to learn about a new type of writing – to entertain. Cheryl has also held communications management positions for the Times Mirror Corporation, United Western Medical Centers, Pepperdine University, and Biola University. She was a member of the Aerospace Industries Association communication council, which she chaired for two years, and served on the advisory board of the Digital Signage Federation. She is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America. Currently, she chairs the board of directors for South County Outreach, a nonprofit organization committed to providing housing and food for the needy in Orange County, California.

Dianne Larson (pen name DJ Piper) began writing during April 2017 Camp NaNoWriMo. She created the Detective Scott McGregor mystery series and publishes online through E. Gads Hill Press. She also published a children’s early reader picture book which promotes social-emotional skills. She donated copies of the picture book to a children’s literacy program. Dianne learned about Sisters in Crime through Mystery Ink, an independent bookstore in Huntington Beach, California. She takes online craft classes through National SinC’s Guppy chapter to improve her writing skills. Locally, she is a member-at-large on the Orange County SinC board. She posts to her writing-themed “Crime Blog” twice a month on DJ-Piper.com.

Maddie Margarita writes humorous mystery and thrillers. When not writing, Maddie is the host of Lit Up! OC an amped up digital writers’ salon in Southern California, and Character Floss The Podcast which can be heard on Authors on the Air Global Network, and other major podcasting platforms. Maddie serves on the Boards of Sisters-in-Crime OC, and the Southern California Writers Association. Her short stories can be found in It’s All in the Story–California, an anthology of short fiction.
